A Society for TransContinental Feminism

philoSOPHIA exists to promote continental feminist scholarly and pedagogical development, and is committed to civic and community engagement.  Continental feminist philosophy is construed broadly to include feminist work on major figures and themes from continental and pluralist philosophical traditions, as well as feminist work inspired by continental philosophy more generally. In 2024, our Executive Committee has elected to follow the philoSOPHIA journal in changing our name to “a society for trans-continental feminism,” reflecting the pluralism of research and inquiry in our community. Actively connecting and creating divergent feminist approaches, cultures, genres and histories, philoSOPHIA seeks to cultivate discursive alliances with, especially but not exclusively, critical race, disability, literary, media, and queer studies.
