philoSOPHIA 2017 - Affect and Social Justice

The 11th annual meeting of philoSOPHIA will run from Thursday, March 30th through the evening of Saturday, April 1st, 2017, in Boca Raton, Florida, hosted by Florida Atlantic University (FAU). This year’s theme, Affect and Social Justice, honors the legacy of Teresa Brennan, who was Schmidt Distinguished Professor of Humanities at FAU before her untimely death in 2003 and author of—among other books—The Transmission of Affect and Globalization and Its Terrors. The conference will feature confirmed Keynote speaker Sara Ahmed, and Plenary speakers Jane Caputi, Kyoo Lee, Devonya Havis, Shelley Tremain, and Ladelle McWhorter.
